Chicagoist Drinkifies several Chicago Bands. For fun here’s the link to some of our jambands, Chicago based and otherwise: Umphrey’s McGee (cold Bud Light), Cornmeal [...]

I’m trying a bunch of new things on the blog lately. So in that spirit, I’m moving away from the traditional weekly link roundup and towards a more anyday / anytime format. So goodbye Friday Linkafication, and hello to 5 Great Links – a combination of web destinations and videos that I think are worthy [...]

Man, I love the Onion. Many Linkafications have included videos. It took a little while, but I’m ready comment on my experience at Summer Camp Music Festival this year. After a trying midweek snowstorm, our favorite bands got back to business on Thursday night at, among other places, the Kinetic Playground in Chicago. Following an opening set by Barefoot Fred, an enhanced Terrapin Flyer lineup took the stage, welcoming [...]

We are excited to announce what could be the most important spotlight show yet in the short history of The Barn. Okay, maybe that’s a tad dramatic; however, Terrapin Flyer’s show on February 11th at Brixie’s is kind of a big deal, especially if you enjoy the music of the Grateful Dead and live [...]

More than just about any band (and I’ll throw the Beatles, Dead, and Zappa in there too), Talking Heads have provided direct inspiration to the jamband community. Attribute it to their rhythmic ideals, engaging melodies or passion for innovation, but with only 8 studio albums to draw from, the variety of tunes covered and interpretations [...]

Hometown show. Big Holiday weekend. A historic venue in a great neighborhood. This gig had all the makings of one for the ages. Cornmeal has been playing Thanksgiving shows in Chicago for ten years, and according to our friends at Chicago Jam Scene, they delivered yet again in the big room.
